Gloria Henderson, also known as Glo, Nan, and Nanner, died from a sudden illness on August 18th. She was 79 years old.
Gloria, was born in New York City, to Jack and Betty Hodgkins and was the youngest of four children. Gloria married James Vesce in 1949, and moved to California where she raised four children. In 1968, the family moved to Dallas, Texas and it was here that Gloria found her career in the insurance field working for Dick Foster and Associates. In 1979, she remarried and became Gloria Henderson. She retired in 1991 and moved to Fillmore, California. Gloria made many friends along the way in life, but she especially loved being with her family. She also enjoyed reading, old movies and bridge. She was a member of the Fillmore Ebell Club was able to play bridge in her retirement to her hearts content.
Gloria is survived by her four children, Denise Hovivian of North Hills, Nancy Janes of Ventura, California, James Vesce of Charlotte, North Carolina and Thomas Vesce of Boston, Massachusetts; her sisters Betty MacFarlane of Lumberton, Texas, Phyllis Thompson of Bellingham, Washington, brother Jack Hodgkins of Oregon; her 12
grandchildren, two great-grandaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations made in her name to the American Heart Association.
