On the morning of Sunday, Aug. 16th, Jay took his last breath at home, in the presence of his parents. He was 37. Jay was a Ventura Co. resident for 33 years and resided in Burns Flat, Ok. for 4 years.
He is survived by his two sons, whom he loved dearly, Michael Jay and Wyatt as well as his step-daughter, Kaelyn. He is also survived by his parents, Mike and Phyllis Steel, sister, Pam Hernandez (Adrian) and his nephews who adored fishing with him, Adrian and Isaiah, as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins. Jay leaves behind numerous friends but especially his two best buds, John Edison and Mike Palmateer.
When Jay wasn't working, you could find him hunting, fishing and/or camping. In addition to his hobbies, Jay was most proud of serving on Search and Rescue in Fillmore.
We already miss you so much, bub but we know you are no longer hurting and you're having a great time in Heaven! Jason loved the Lord and in his final days said, "I keep seeing Jesus and He's telling me to come home." You're home now bub, so have a great time and we'll see you soon! We love you!
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19th at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary in Fillmore from 6 to 8pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20th, at 10:30 am at West Coast Fellowship, 406 Acacia Rd., Santa Paula.
