To the Editor:

I recently had the pleasure of watching Tierra, a band that reached stardom in its heyday, in the Fillmore Theater. The group performed at a professional level not often experienced in a small town.

Each musician displayed their versatile talent playing their instruments and singing dynamic leads with all pitching in on wonderful harmonies! The audience hit the small area in front of the stage and made it a dance floor!
I have heard numerous other bands play in the Fillmore/Piru area but none that performed at the level of professionalism the band displayed on Saturday.

What I found a bit shocking was that the Fillmore Theater seats at the concert were mostly empty! Fillmore residents missed out on top level entertainment right here in Fillmore!

I chatted with Greg, one of the primary drivers of what I found out is an effort to bring back to life a theater that deserves to be restored and maintained as an iconic symbol of the past. Through donations and volunteer work, the costly restoration is slowly in progress.

The Fillmore theater has a related website, fillmoretowntheater.com where you can view up and coming events that can only continue with the public’s support. You can also purchase tickets to the events on the website.
I call out all Fillmore business owners, residents, local police and fire departments to provide support toward this restoration of what could be a midtown gem that all in the community can benefit from.
