24 Arrested in probation/parole sweep

Ventura County Sheriff's Department Location: El Rio/ Saticoy/ Nyeland Acres Suspects Charge City of residence Age Ouwendijk, Danielle Under the influence Somis 32 On Thursday night, more than 45 deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department conducted a 5-hour probation and parole sweep in the unincorporated areas of El Rio, Nyeland Acres and Saticoy. The deputies went to more than 130 residences and made 20 arrests for a variety of charges. The probation and parole searches were conducted as part of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department ongoing proactive enforcement in areas prone to gang violence. The Sheriff’s Department was able to gather the large group of deputies by shifting the regular work hours of various units from throughout the Department so they could assist in the operation. The units assisting included the Sheriff’s Gang Unit, Camarillo Gang Unit, Thousand Oaks Gang Unit, Thousand Oaks Bike Patrol, Narcotics, Homicide, Fillmore Gang Unit, Ojai Substation, Headquarters Substation, and the Sheriff’s Prisoner Transportation Unit. In addition to Sheriff Department personnel, officers from the California Highway patrol working under a California Gang Reduction, Intervention and Prevention grant, conducted saturation patrols in the unincorporated area of West Ventura County and made 4 traffic related arrests. The Ventura County Sheriff Department intends to increase the frequency of its parole searches, as the State of California plans the release of an estimated 27,000 non-violent inmates on unsupervised parole. An estimated four hundred fifty of those are expected to return to Ventura County. |
