At 9 pm last night, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team arrested a barricaded subject at his residence after he had brandished a weapon at a female victim earlier in the evening. No one was injured as a result of the arrest. At one point during the event, the subject is believed to have fired a round inside the residence.
At around 5:30 pm, Thousand Oaks Deputies responded to a disturbance call of a subject brandishing a weapon in the 2800 block of Instone Court. When deputies arrived on scene, 46 year old Jason McLaren retreated into his residence. No one else was in the house. From previous calls, McLaren is known to have weapons inside his home.

The surrounding residences were temporarily evacuated. After McLaren was taken into custody, residents were allowed to return to their homes. A variety of Sheriff’s Office resources were utilized to resolve the situation, including the SWAT Team, Tactical Negotiations Unit, Air Unit, Bomb Team, K-9 and Patrol Services.
