Arson Investigation

 Ventura County Sheriff's Department On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, the Ventura County Fire Department and the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a small brush fire in the Thousand Oaks area. The fire burned approximately one thousand square feet of brush just off the trailhead at the end of Greenmeadow Avenue. Later, the fire was deemed suspicious in nature and was possibly an act of arson. On Thursday, October 4, 2012, the Ventura County Fire Department and the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a small brush fire in the same area as Tuesday’s suspicious fire. Two small fires, approximately 75 feet apart, were discovered off the trailhead at the end of Greenmeadow Avenue. The small fires burned themselves out prior to the arrival of the fire department. On Friday, October 5, 2012, a joint investigation between the Ventura County Fire Department and the Thousand Oaks Police Department lead to a surveillance of the trailhead and the surrounding area. Upon discovering another small fire in the same area, a male juvenile approximately 13 years of age was contacted riding his bike away from the area of the fire. The juvenile admitted to starting the three fires. Subsequently, the juvenile was arrested for PC 451(c), arson. The juvenile cited and released to his family. Nature of Incident: Arson Investigation Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 reward for information, which leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for this crime.
