On September 20, at 4:37 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stabbing victim on Highland Drive near Roosevelt Blvd., in the Silver Strand beach community. Prior to the deputies’ arrival, the victim was taken to Ventura County Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained in the attack.

Investigators collected information which led them to arrest Jake Lopez for the assault a few hours later. Lopez was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura for section 245(a)(1) of the Penal Code – assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury. His bail is currently set at $20,000.00

The victim, David Darling, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released.
