Santa Paula Police Department

On August 3, 2013 at approximately 2001 hrs, Santa Paula Police Department received a call of a gunshot victim in the 100 blk. of Sonoma Ln. Officers arrived on scene and contacted 40 year old Samuel Medina who told Officers he had "shot someone". Medina was taken into custody pending further investigation. 21 year old Antonio Purcallo was located on the south side of the residence with a single gunshot wound to the abdomin. Purcallo was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel then transported to the Ventura County Medical Center.
Medina was arrested for a violation of 245(a)(2) PC; Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and later transported to the Ventura County Jail. At this time the incident has been turned over to the Investigation Bureau for further investigation.
