Attempt Carjacking in Camarillo

Ventura County Sheriff's Department On May 18, at about 11:15 a.m., Camarillo Deputies responded to a call of an attempt carjack in the area of the 4500 block of Pleasant Valley Road. Information was received from several callers who advised four (4) males, one armed with a gun, attempted to take a woman’s car. The attempt carjacking was unsuccessful and all four subjects fled into the residential neighborhood. Patrol Deputies from Camarillo, Thousand Oaks and Headquarters responded and set up a perimeter in the neighborhood along with detectives, the copter and K-9. Meanwhile, Sheriff’s Dispatch began receiving additional calls for services that the suspects were jumping fences into backyards. Ultimately, two (2) suspects were located in a backyard in the 100 block of Japonica and two suspects were found in a backyard in the 100 block of Flora Vista. A loaded handgun was found on one of the suspects. All four (4) suspects were taken into custody without incident. Additional investigation revealed, the suspects were driving a stolen vehicle that broke down at Pleasant Valley Road and Hwy 101. This car was stolen in the area of Palm Springs. At the conclusion of the investigation, all four (4) suspects were booked at Juvenile Hall for possession of a stolen vehicle and attempt carjacking. One suspect was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Location: Camarillo |
