Santa Paula Police Department

On 9/4/13 at approximatley 1100 hours patrol officers from the Santa Paula Police Department responded to the 100 block of E. Ventura Street in an attempt to locate Alex Nunez, a documented Santa Paula gang member, wanted for an assault with a deadly weapon . When patrol officers arrived on scene Nunez was inside his girlfriends residence and initially refused to come out. Detectives from Santa Paula Police Department's Investigations and Gang Units arrived on scene and assisted patrol officers with surrounding the residence.

After a short time Nunez jumped from a second story bedroom window and attempted to elude officers. After a brief foot pursuit through the apartment complex Nunez was located hiding under a stairwell. Nunez again refused to come out until officers requested a K-9. When Nunez heard the K-9 request he promptly gave up to officers on scene.

This response was due to an assault which occurred on 9/1/13. During this incident Nunez reportedly assaulted a handyman who was working on a neighboring apartment. During the assault Nunez stabed the handyman multiple times with a screwdriver and physically assaulted him, punching him in the head and face. The incident was intially reported to Santa Barbara Police Department, who took an initial report and forwarded the report to Santa Paula Police Department. Santa Paula Police Officers followed up on the report on 9/2/13 and 9/3/13 and received information today that Nunez was back at his grilfriends apartment.
