On 12/13/2009 at about 6:14 P.M. deputies assigned to the Moorpark Police Department responded to a reported brandishing that occurred in the parking lot at 51 Majestic Court. Upon arrival deputies spoke to Santos Rodriguez who reported that a male Hispanic in his mid – 20’s approached him with a knife and demanded his belongings. Upon seeing other persons approaching, the suspect fled on foot. While investigating this incident deputies learned of a car jacking that had just occurred at 50 majestic, about 400 yards from the original attempt robbery. Deputies contacted Emilio Diaz and learned that a male Hispanic, matching the description of the suspect who contacted Santos Rodriguez, climbed into his vehicle and, threatening him with a knife, ordered him to get out. Once Diaz got out of the vehicle, the suspect tried to flee but accelerated too rapidly and struck several other cars. The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

The investigation is continuing.
