Burglary Arrests in Moorpark

Since late November, early December 2011, suspects have burglarized the Southern California Edison plant in Moorpark on at least six different occasions. The suspects made entry into plant by cutting the chain link fence. Once inside the plant, the suspects stole expensive wire that contained a significant amount of copper. Officials from Southern California Edison estimated their total loss to be well over $100,000.00.

With the cooperation of Southern California Edison officials, detectives from the Moorpark Police Department conducted a surveillance of the location. On January 22, at approximately 3:30 A.M. detectives observed three suspects cut a hole in the perimeter fence and enter the facility. The suspects spent at least one hour inside the facility gathering various types of copper wire. Detectives watched the crime occur and relayed the information to Moorpark Patrol Deputies.

Around 4:55 A.M., the suspect’s entered their vehicle and left the location with stolen wire belonging to Edison. Patrol units immediately apprehended the suspects. Approximately $25,000.00 in copper wire was located inside of the suspect’s vehicle. Robert Meskill, Jeffrey Denuccio and Paul Kornish were arrested for Commercial Burglary and Conspiracy and were booked into the East County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 bail. Paul Kornish was additionally arrested for an existing parole hold making him ineligible for bail at this time. The investigation is continuing.
