California Statewide Fire Summary
By Anonymous — Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
This past week has been a busy one for CAL FIRE and firefighters throughout the state as a substantial increase in large wildfire activity began over the weekend. Despite the slightly cooler temperatures, humidity levels in most areas continue to be very low and that coupled with the tinder dry vegetation has led to the fire danger remaining high. The public is urged to remain cautious and fire safe. The website ReadyForWildfire.org is available to ensure Californians are prepared. Battling the major fires in California include over 2,260 firefighters, 135 fire engines, 61 fire crews, 16 helicopters and 10 bulldozers.
