Nearly a dozen wildfires continue to burn across California and over 8,000 firefighters are on the frontlines battling these fires. Above average temperatures coupled with extremely dry conditions are causing fires to burn very actively. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over many of the mountains and higher elevations in northern California with dry lightning likely. The potential for lightning-sparked fires will be high. Firefighters remain prepared and the public is urged to as well.
