A motorcyclist died as a result of an officer involved shooting Saturday afternoon at the end of a vehicle pursuit that was initiated by a California Highway Patrol officer, who had attempted to stop the motorcyclist for speeding.

The pursuit began on southbound Pacific Coast Highway north of Faria Beach, and ended on Padre Juan Canyon Road, where the motorcycle left the pavement and crashed. The shooting occurred after the motorcycle crashed.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the criminal investigation at the request of the California Highway Patrol.

No officers were injured during the pursuit or the shooting.
