Daytime Residential Burglary

 Ventura County Sheriff's Department On 06/26/12, at approximately 11:00 am, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 1400 block of Calle Tulipan. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a female occupant of the residence was home alone when she heard a knock on the front door. The female looked out her bedroom window and did not recognize the suspects knocking on the door so she did not answer the door. A few moments later, the female heard the front door open and two suspects enter the residence. The female locked herself inside her bedroom and called 911. The suspects began ransacking the house and collecting items to steal. Deputies quickly arrived on scene, at which time the suspects fled out the back door and into a drainage ditch behind the residence. A perimeter was established, however the suspects were not located. The Ventura County and Los Angeles County areas have seen a recent increase in residential burglaries. Suspects will sometimes knock on doors to see if anyone is home before breaking in. They will even pose as solicitors in an effort to appear to have legitimate business. The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to encourage citizens to always lock their doors and windows when not at home.
