Dog Dies From Injuries After Being Deliberately Set Aflame

 Ventura County Sheriff's Department A three-year-old basset hound has died of injuries suffered early Saturday morning, when someone had poured lighter fluid on the animal and set it aflame in a ravine just outside the Camarillo city limit. A neighbor saw a small fire in the ravine and contacted the Ventura County Fire Department. When firefighters arrived on scene to extinguish the fire, they found Buddy suffering from severe burns. Arson investigators from the Ventura County Fire Department, as well as from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Bomb/Arson Unit initiated an investigation to determine who was responsible for this crime. Investigators collected evidence from the scene and interviewed Buddy’s owner. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is continuing. Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 reward for information, which leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for this crime.
