![]() Ventura County Sheriff's Department Nature of Incident: Financial Planner Arrested for Embezzling from Elderly Victim A Newbury Park Financial Planner was arrested today following the execution of a search warrant at his business and home. In October 2012, a concerned family member made a report with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office alleging Rod Hormell embezzled monies from the 89 year old victim while employed as her financial planner. Detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Unit conducted an investigation and developed sufficient probable cause to arrest Hormell for Financial Elder Abuse & Money Laundering. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting the elderly citizens within our community. We encourage anyone who believes they were victimized by Hormell, to contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office / Major Crimes Unit.
