Fontana Mother Arrested for Selling Fentanyl in Simi Valley

On August 21, 2013, the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit arrested Adella Carrillo after she drove to Simi Valley to sell a Ventura County resident her Fentanyl prescription. Carrillo had her 7 month and 7 year old daughters in the car with her when she was arrested. The investigation revealed that Carrillo drove from Fontana to Simi Valley to sell Fentanyl patches she received with her Medi-Cal benefits. Carrillo was arrested for felony sales of Fentanyl, and child endangerment since she took her children with her to a drug deal. A drug endangered children investigation was conducted in coordination with Ventura County Children and Family Services. The children were released to that agency.An investigation involving Medi-Cal insurance fraud was also initiated. Carrillo was booked into custody at the Main Jail in Ventura where she is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a task force comprised of members of law enforcement from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Simi Valley Police Department, and the District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation. The task force’s main mission is combating the transfer of legal prescription medication to the illegal market.
