Former Financial Planner arrested again for Embezzling from the Elderly

Ventura County Sheriff's Department A Newbury Park man who is currently on felony probation for Financial Elder Abuse was arrested following a search and arrest warrant at his residence. In January 2015, the victim’s family member contacted the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office after reading a press release from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office reference Rod Hormell’s arrest and conviction in 2013. The family member alleged Hormell had embezzled $100,000.00 dollars while employed as the victim’s financial planner. Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau and the Department of Business Oversight conducted an investigation and developed sufficient probable cause to arrest Hormell for Financial Elder Abuse and Offering or Selling Securities. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting the elderly citizens within our community. We encourage anyone who believes they were victimized by Hormell to contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office / Major Crimes Bureau.
