Gang Graffiti, Vandalism Arrest

Ventura County Sheriff's Department On April 30, 2011 patrol deputies were dispatched to vandalism in progress in the area of Ventu Park Road and the 101 Freeway. Upon their arrival, deputies located (S) Carlos Veliz, riding his bike. Deputies also located several areas that had been spray painted with gang graffiti. During the initial investigation, deputies located a can of spray paint in Veliz's possession that was the same color of paint used to complete the graffiti. A deputy with the Special Enforcement Gang Unit responded to assist with the investigation. It was later determined that Veliz had sprayed gang related graffiti at about 15 locations. The total amount of damage is not known at this time. Veliz was booked at the Ventura County Jail Facility for a violation of 594 (b)(1) PC / Vandalism, 186.22 PC / Street Terrorism and 11550 (a) H&S / Under the Influence of Narcotics.
