On July 15, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Camarillo patrol deputies responded to a report of a stabbing that had just occurred in the 2700 block of Barry Street in the city of Camarillo. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, 20 year old Andres Juache. Deputies determined Juache sustained several stab wounds during a gang related physical altercation with an unidentified male suspect.

Investigators assigned to the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail were summoned to the scene and took over the remainder of the investigation. As this lengthy investigation progressed, 30 year old Rene Ray Cervantez was identified as the suspect in this case. On August 23, 2012, the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail followed up with a search warrant service in the 1000 block of Simon Way, El Rio.

Based on the evidence obtained throughout this investigation, Cervantez was arrested in the city of Camarillo on August 25, 2012. He was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and street terrorism. Cervantez’ bail was set at $150,000.
