High speed chase leads to 4 hour stand-off

On Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at approximately 1106 hours, Santa Paula Police officers observed wanted subject, Ricardo Garcia, driving westbound on Highway 126 at Briggs Road. Garcia was wanted by the Santa Paula Police Department for a domestic violence incident that occurred on February 8, 2013. Garcia was also found to have an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest for a violation of the terms and conditions of his probation.

As Garcia passed Palm Ave. officers attempted to stop Garcia. As the police vehicle moved into position Garcia immediately began to flee at a high rate of speed. A vehicle pursuit ensued as Garcia fled on city streets and at times on the freeway. The pursuit terminated in the 300 blk. of Lucada St. where Garcia exited his vehicle and fled into a nearby residence. A perimeter was established around the residence to prevent Garcia from escaping. Shortly thereafter Garcia was instructed to exit the residence however, he refused. The Santa Paula Police treated the situation as a barricaded subject incident and the Special Response Team was activated. A 4 hour stand-off ended when Garcia exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.

Garcia was charged with felony evading, narcotics violations, and felon in possession of ammunition.
