Homicide Santa Paula

 Santa Paula Police Department On the above date & time, SPPD Officers responded to Mill Park regarding a gunshot victim at that location. Upon arrival, Officers located the victim and witnesses on the north side of the park. The victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The victim was identified as Ashley Calanche, 21 years, Santa Paula. Immediately after, witnesses were located who provided Officers with information of two female suspects who had fled the scene. The information lead to a possible location of suspect(s). During the search for the suspect(s) at a nearby apartment complex, one of the females was located. She was later found to be a witness to the crime. Additionally a second witness was located who provided additional information. All witnesses provided valuable information that lead to a quick identification of the suspect. The suspect was identified as Yajaira Dominguez, 31 years, Santa Paula. As the investigation continued, Detectives obtained information of the possible whereabouts of the suspect, Dominguez. She was located at a residence in the 500 Blk. Casabella Ct. Santa Paula. A phone call was placed into the residence and Officers confirmed that she was inside the residence. Officers immediately went to the location and surrounded the residence. Detectives again made contact by phone and attempted to convince the suspect, Dominguez, to exit the residence. She refused and threaten to harm herself. Detectives coninued to attempt to convince her to exit. After approximately 1 1/2 hours, she agreed to surrender to Detectives. She exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. No motive for the homicide has been estabished at this time. The investigation is continuing. The firearm used in the crime has not been located at this time. Santa Paula Police Department |
