On March 3, 2013, at about 4:20PM, the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit was requested for an injured person in Wildwood Park. Initial reports indicated that a female juvenile had suffered a seizure and was in need of medical aid. Sheriff’s Air Squad 8 responded.

The victim was located sitting on a park bench near the upper waterfall of the park. The victim was with friends who had called 911. Ground units from the Ventura County Fire Department were able to drive most of the way to the victim’s location via dirt roads. A short hike down a single-track trail took them the remainder of the way to the victim.

Upon contact with the victim, Ventura County Fire Personnel determined she had suffered a seizure resulting in a fall. As a result of her fall, she had received a head injury. Due to the victims location, and considering her injuries, it was determined the best course of action would be to hoist her into the helicopter for transport.

SAR Flight Paramedic Robert Seebre and Crew Chief John Braganza were hoisted down to the victim’s location. The victim was then secured and hoisted into the helicopter via a Bauman rescue harness. The victim was immediately flown to Los Robles Hospital where her care was transferred to awaiting hospital staff.
