Autopsies of two children found dead in a Thousand Oaks apartment on Wednesday revealed they died of multiple stab wounds.

Jason and Jennifer Mulvaney were found dead in their bedrooms inside their father’s apartment on White Ridge Place in Thousand Oaks when their mother arrived at the apartment Wednesday evening.

The children’s father, James Mulvaney, was found in the front room of the apartment, but had no visible external injuries. The preliminary results of James’ autopsy revealed he died of an intentional overdose of prescription medications, pending further toxicology testing.

Investigators determined that James murdered his two children with a knife, which was found inside the apartment.
