Online Child Pornography Arrest

Ventura County Sheriff's Department Location: City of Thousand Oaks Date & Time: 8-18-09 Unit Responsible: Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (S)uspects, (V)ictims, (W)itnesses Address Age In January of 2009, the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit executed a search warrant at David Teal’s residence in Newbury Park. Law enforcement was searching for child pornography. During an undercover investigation using “peer to peer” file sharing software, Detectives identified Teal as downloading and possessing child pornography. Teal’s computers and digital storage devices were seized. The Southern California High Tech Task Force conducted a comprehensive forensic examination of all the items seized. Hundreds of child pornography videos and images were located on Teal’s computers and digital media. An arrest warrant was issued for Teal’s arrest. The Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Teal at his residence without incident today (August 18, 2009). Teal was booked into the Ventura County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000. |
