Owner of payroll service arrested for grand theft

Ventura County Sheriff's Department The owner of a payroll service was arrested for grand theft on Aug. 31, 2010, after an investigation revealed he was siphoning funds from his clients instead of paying their employment taxes. Several of Jason Harvey’s former clients received notices from the Internal Revenue Service that their employment taxes had not been paid. Harvey, who owned and operated HRA Inc. essentially took the money from his clients for his own use instead of paying the employment taxes as required by law. Two victims were identified in Ventura County, but there may be others who have experienced similar problems with Harvey’s business. Anyone with additional information about Harvey’s illegal activities is asked to contact Detective Garo Kuredjian at (805) 494-8231. Harvey was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura for grand theft. He was released after posting a bail bond of $10,000.00.
