Ventura County Sheriff's Department

At around 12:15 p.m. reports of a plane crash came in to the Sheriff's Communication Center. Upon arrival, deputies located wreckage in an agricultural area approximately 3 miles southeast of Hueneme Rd. and Las Posas Rd.

The aircraft was a small jet type that was contracted by the military. There was one fatality (pilot). No other injuries, fatalities or damage related to the crash.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Ventura County Fire, and Environmental Health responded to the scene. CHP and FAA on scene. NTSB is responding.

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.
