Ventura County Sheriff's Department Location: Sparky Anderson Field, California Lutheran University The relentless pounding of running shoes across exotic locales has paid dividends on many levels for the members of Cops Running For Charity. The mental and physical challenges have always been met with specific goals in mind. As they focus on their next milestone, their primary purpose has been to raise money and awareness for local medical charities. This Saturday will be another moment for the team to fulfill its commitment to the community by presenting a $5,000.00 check to the ALS Association. The presentation will take place during the 5th annual Strike Out Lou Gehrig’s Disease All Star Baseball Tournament championship game to be held at California Lutheran University’s Sparky Anderson Field. The Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the ALS Association, the national champion Conejo Valley Little League, and the Thousand Oaks Little League will co-host the tournament, which will take place July 23-26, 2009 in Thousand Oaks. “It is a privilege for us to be a part of this event by contributing to such an important organization,” said Captain Randy Pentis, who leads the team of sheriff’s deputies, who have run on nearly every continent.
