Saab pleds guilty to defrauding an insurer & filing a false police report

VENTURA, CA - District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that on April 26, 2012, Charles Saab (DOB 8/30/71) pled guilty to one felony count of defrauding an insurer, in violation of California Penal Code section 548(a), and one misdemeanor count of filing a false police report, in violation of Penal Code section 148.5(a). The case was investigated by the Simi Valley Police Department. Saab was arrested after Simi Valley Police Detective Stephen Collett recovered a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at Saab’s home in Porter Ranch. Saab had previously reported this same motorcycle stolen to the police and to his insurance company. Based upon Saab’s false insurance claim, Foremost Insurance Company paid him over $22,000. Saab is scheduled to be sentenced on June 6, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 12. |
