Santa Paula Homicide

Suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing
 Santa Paula Police Department On December 22, 2013 at approximatley 0123 hours, Santa Paula Police responded to the 200 block of Garcia St. to the rear of Ruben's Lounge Bar, regarding a call of a traffic accident and brandishing report. When Officers arrived, they observed an SUV had rear ended a parked vehicle. Upon further invetigation, the Officers discovered that the driver of the SUV had been shot once in the head and was not responsive. Medical personnel at the scene declared the driver deceased at the scene. SPPD Officers/Detectives initiated a homicide investigation. SPPD Detectives assited by Patrol personnel, worked tirelessly throughout the night and day on this investigation. As a result, information was developed as to the identity of the suspect, location of the suspect and witnesses. Information obtained led Detectives to a home in the 300 block of N. 14th St, where the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Jesus Montejo Cardoso, 29 years, a resident of Santa Paula. The victim's name will not be released at this time pending notification of next of kin. At this time, Detectives are continuing on the case, interviewing additional witnesses, and conducting further investigation. Nature of Incident: |
