Santa Paula P.D. Officers Involved in Shooting

On July 28, 2012, at about 7:45 p.m., Santa Paula Police Department officers responded to a report of a subject brandishing a gun in the 1100 block of New Street. Shortly after the officers arrived, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the police and the suspect. The suspect suffered injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A Santa Paula police officer was struck by gunfire but did not suffer any life threatening injuires.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau and the Professional Standards Bureau are assisting with the investigation at the request of the Santa Paula Police Department. The suspect's name has not been released.
