Thousand Oaks Police Department is investigating a single car collision that occurred on N. Westlake Blvd. just North of Cascade Ave., City of Thousand Oaks. Omead Afshar was driving a black Honda Civic northbound Westlake Blvd. when he lost control. The vehicle entered the center median, knocking down several trees. The vehicle then collided with a larger tree causing the vehicle to come to rest in the center median. Afshar and passenger Melissa Lynch were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated.

The Ventura County Fire Department and AMR freed the two occupants. Both occupants suffered serious injuries in the collision and were transported via ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation is continuing.
