On 11-20-09 at about 2:35 a.m., Moorpark patrol deputies were summoned to a residence in the 400 block of Millard Street in the city of Moorpark, to a report of a stabbing that had just occurred. Witnesses reported that the victim, William Cardiel and the suspect, Alfred Dowd had gotten into a verbal altercation, which turned physical. During the physical altercation, Dowd picked up a knife and stabbed Cardiel in the left abdomen area. Following the stabbing, Cardiel fled the scene but was later located and transported to Simi Adventist Hospital where he was treated for the non-life threatening wound.

Following the investigation, Alfred Dowd was taken into custody for violating section 245(a)(1) P.C. – Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Dowd was booked into the East County Jail Facility in lieu of $35,000 bail.
