Stabbing/Barricaded Subject in Camarillo

On January 19, 2012, at approx. 1204 hours, the property manager of a large ranch located at the 1900 block of Lewis Road, called the Sheriff’s Department to report a domestic dispute in progress. The property manager told Sheriff’s dispatch he heard a female scream and saw a male suspect standing outside with an ax in his hand and a knife in his waistband.

Deputies arrived on scene and were escorted to a fenced property containing numerous vehicles and sheds. The deputies were confronted by the suspect who was holding an ax. The suspect refused to comply and retreated to a shed on the property. Deputies entered the property and rescued a female who was hiding in a vehicle with her two young children. Deputies saw that the female had suffered numerous cuts and stab wounds. The children were unharmed. The suspect barricaded himself in the shed and refused to surrender.

The Sheriff’s SWAT Team and Tactical Negotiation Unit responded to the scene. The suspect attempted to set fire to the shed. The Sheriff’s SWAT Team moved in and arrested the suspect.

The victim was transported to the hospital, treated for numerous stab wounds and later released.

The suspect was booked into the Ventura County Jail for the following charges: Assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, mayhem, and terrorist threats.
