An armored van was stolen Friday morning during a brazen mid-morning theft in front of a Thousand Oaks office building. Two employees of La Federal Armored Services, Incorporated parked the armored vehicle in front of the offices of the Conejo Valley Unified School District on Janss Road.
The men locked the vehicle and entered the offices for a money pick-up. When they emerged from the building, the vehicle was gone.

Deputies were on scene quickly and began searching the surrounding area for the stolen vehicle. The search included K-9’s and a sheriff’s helicopter as well as notifications to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Deputies located the abandoned armored van on a residential street within ½ mile of Janss Road.

The investigation is continuing and investigators are attempting to determine who was responsible for the crime and how much money was missing from the van.

Anyone who was in the area of 1400 E. Janss Road, or the area of Whitecliff Road and Spalding Street at the time of this incident is asked to contact investigators at (805)494-8201.
