Santa Paula Police Department

On Monday, July 8, 2013 at approximately 2109 hours, Officer Joash Rothermel observed a subject, Raul Moreno age 36 of Santa Paula, known to him to have a suspended license riding a motorcycle. Officer Rothermel attempted to stop the subject for the license violation however Moreno fled from him. After a short pursuit Moreno drove down the driveway of a residence and attempted to flee on foot. Moreno was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. In addition the handgun had a modified ammunition magazine as well as a homemade silencer. Moreno was charged with possession of a loaded concealed firearm, possession of a modified ammunition magazine, possession of a silencer, and reckless driving. Moreno was transported to Ventura County Jail with a bail amount of $50,000.
