Tena convicted of second-degree murder

VENTURA, CA - District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that a jury has convicted Salvador Tena (DOB 8/6/55), of Oxnard, of the second-degree murder of 65-year-old Candido Monge. The jury also found true the special allegation that Tena used a knife in the commission of the murder. The murder occurred on February 16, 2010, outside a restaurant in Oxnard where Monge had been eating. Tena fatally stabbed him in the parking lot and then fled the area. Tena was arrested the following day.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 16, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. in department 35. Tena faces a maximum sentence of 16 years to life.
