Threat to a Police Officer in Thousand Oaks

Ventura County Sheriff's Department On July 26, 2011, at about 5:45 P.M, City of Thousand Oaks Police Officers responded to a disturbance call at the 200 block of Siesta Avenue. When they arrived at the location, they were confronted by 39 year-old Gary Fisher. He pointed what was believed to be a handgun at a uniformed Sheriff’s Deputy. Officers assigned to the City of Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit and Major Crimes Investigation Unit responded to the scene to assist patrol deputies. Fortunately, the deputies were able to de-escalate the situation and safely take Fisher into custody. A realistic looking replica handgun was recovered at the scene. During the incident, 48 year-old Laurie Fisher was also arrested for interfering with the deputies investigating the crime. Both Gary Fisher and Laurie Fisher were booked into the Ventura County Jail. Both were released after posting bail. This case was presented to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office who filed one felony count against Gary Fisher for Resisting an Officer and one misdemeanor count of Brandishing a Replica Gun. Misdemeanor charges of Obstructing a Police Officer and Battery on a Police Officer were filed against Laurie Fisher. Gary Fisher is scheduled to appear in court on October 4, 2011.
