Ventura County Sheriff's Department Location: 4200 Block of Faria Road, Ventura (Unincorporated Area) Victim, Witnesses, Suspects, Age, City of residence An unidentified intruder entered a Faria Beach residence late Wednesday night and brutally stabbed to death a husband and wife inside. The couple has been identified as Brock and Davina Husted of Ventura. Information obtained from family members indicates that Davina was approximately four months pregnant at the time. Based on this information, Sheriff’s investigators believe the case is a triple homicide due to the death of the fetus. An autopsy is pending and the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office will make the official determination. The single family beach residence is situated adjacent to the ocean, and the rear French doors on the ocean side of the property were open at the time allowing the suspect immediate access. The Husted’s nine-year old son was in the family room watching TV as the suspect passed by him and confronted Davina who was in the kitchen. Davina moved to the front portion of the house where the suspect followed and brutally stabbed Davina and Brock to death in one of the other rooms inside of the house. Immediately after the attack, the nine-year old son found his parents lying on the floor and summoned his eleven-year-old sister who was asleep in another room. The Husted children left the residence and contacted a neighbor who called 9-1-1. An intensive search of the area has been underway since the murders. Resources used have included a Ventura County Sheriff’s helicopter, canines from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Ventura Police Department, a bloodhound from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, numerous detectives, and patrol officers from both the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Ventura Police Department. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department also utilized its Reverse 9-1-1 system to alert residents about the outstanding suspect. The only description of the suspect at this time is as follows: male with a dark complexion wearing a black motorcycle helmet, and possibly wearing a dark or black jumpsuit. Anyone with information about this brutal crime is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau at (805) 477-7000. |
