The Peace Officers Association of Ventura County (P.O.A.V.C.) will be presenting the 2013 Peace Officers Memorial on May 23rd at the Ventura County Government Center to honor, remember, and respect all Ventura County peace officers killed in the line of duty. The event is open to the public.

Sheriff’s Commander Rick Barrios is president of the P.O.A.V.C., which includes representatives from all law enforcement agencies throughout Ventura County. This annual event is widely attended by law enforcement officers, families of fallen officers, friends, colleagues, public safety representatives, and dignitaries. It is an opportunity for people to come together and share support for local law enforcement, whose officers gave their lives protecting our communities.

The schedule of events start at 10 a.m. with the memorial that will include guest speaker Lisa Simmons, widow of fallen Los Angeles Police Department S.W.A.T. Officer Randy Simmons. The tribute will also include the release of doves, a rifle salute, and a helicopter fly over.
