A man was killed Friday morning when he was pulled into an auger after his shirt got caught and wrapped around the machinery.

The 30-year-old Oxnard resident was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The accident took place in an agricultural field just outside the city limits of Santa Paula off of Peck Road.

Several workers were using a tractor with the auger on the back to dig post holes along the edge of a field of row crops when the accident occurred.

Representatives from CAL-OSHA are investigating the accident. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
