Fillmore Senior Center Brown Bag report
By Anonymous — Wednesday, July 7th, 2010
Many senior citizens in Fillmore are not aware of the BROWN BAG program for residents over 60 with limited income. Every two weeks, Food Share brings an assortment of food for distribution to Fillmore seniors. The items vary each time, but all are nutritious and a great help for those on limited income. If you are interested, stop by the Senior Center and complete an application in advance. The next Brown Bag day will be July 14th. The weekly calendar for the center will show distribution day, so watch for it. The Brown Bag application requires proof of age and monthly income. A single person can have approximately $1200 a month and $2000 in savings. Details are shown on the application, so stop by the Center and pick up an application. After it is completed and sent for verification, your name will be put on the list for the next Brown Bag day. Seniors should come in now and do the paper work. Seniors are also eligible to stay for the daily noon nutrition meal served for only $3 donation at 11:30. No Senior in Fillmore should be going without proper food, so stop at the Center for more information. This is another local program using volunteers to make it run. Anyone interested in helping on a regular basis may call the Center 524-4533, for details. |
