The Monday Morning Walkers are meeting August 1st. at 7:30 AM, to Car pool to Toland Regional Park which consists of 212.7 acres of undeveloped, rural land that is gently sloped and densely populated with coastal sage scrub brush. The park may be used for hiking or wilderness exploring. This is a passive, natural open space park with restrooms, picnic tables and BBQ's. We are just going for the View. >Internet Basics for Seniors : Presented by California Seniors Education & Research Fund. We are offer the class again in August. The dates will be August 15th, 22nd. & 29th. as before Participants must have basic computer skills, You will be learning how to use the Internet safely, how to locate local and national senior services and benefits that may be available to you. This Class will be FREE, with a $10 deposit, refunded upon completion of the 3 week class. This is a great opportunity, “Don’t miss out.” Please call to register for the class, Contact Beverly at the Senior Center at 524-4533. Class times start at 8:30 -10:30 with a duplicate class from 11 – 1pm
> The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a Program for Non-Professional Caregivers “The Savvy Caregiver Program”, This is a FREE, “12 HOUR” Educational training program, divided into four, three hour sessions for families caring for a loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. Non-professional caregivers will acquire skills and knowledge of dementia, handling difficult situations and managing behavior. Attendees will also learn about managing their own well-being, and resources available in the community to help. The Savvy Caregiver is scheduled to start Tuesday, August 16th, from 9:00-12 Noon, continuing on August 23rd, & August 30th. finishing on September 6th. At the Fillmore Senior Center, 535 Santa Clara St., Fillmore. The Alzheimer’s Association has a Caregiver’s Manual available for $25.00, the Book contains essential information both for the class and for your personal use. Seating is limited and registration is required. Our Book Club will be discussing “ The Immortal Life of Harrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot . On Friday, August 19th. at 10:00 AM. The recommended reading also a classic and great summer reading; is “Cannery Row” by John Steinbeck. Come in have a cup of coffee or tea, a little sweet roll and get into the discussion…we would love to have you.
