Alzheimer’s & Dementia Caregiver Support Group Monday, June 11, 2012. Designed to provide; emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. They help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. The group encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally caring for the person with dementia. The Support Group meets on the 2nd & 4th Mondays each month from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M.
Life Stories, Myth, and the Imagination has been rescheduled due to conflicting schedules. The new date is Tuesday, September 11th. Instructed by, Valerie Brinton, MA on Tuesdays from 10:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. What does this class is all about: How do our life experiences relate to myths and stories from other times and places? How does our creative imagination make it possible to discover new understandings each time we revisit a memory, or a life event? We will explore this intersection of myth, memory and imagination which will bring ease and joy to the writing and sharing (or not) of our “Life stories”. Come and explore your own growing legacy.
AARP Driver Safety Class: Consists of two days, 4 hours each, required too get your completion certificate to get a discount on your Auto Insurance. The class is set for June 4th part 1 & June 7 part 2, from 9-1pm. The class is designed to help individuals tune up their driving skills and refresh all the rules of the road. This is especially handy if your drivers license is about to expire and you might have to take the written test again. The class fee is $12 for AARP member and $14 for non-members. Book Club will be discussing “The Innocent Man” by John Grisham on Friday June 15th. at 10:30 New readers are always welcome. Come make some new friends, have a cup of Coffee or Tea & a Starbucks sweet roll. Recommended Reading for this month is “The Order of Things” by Lynn Hinton.
New Gourd Class will start June 5th.. From 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Cost of the class is a $2.00 Donation per class. The ancients used various methods to burn designs into gourd surfaces. Some used metal spear tips heated over a flame. Others applied various acids and then held the gourd over a flame. Today all you need is a hobbyist's wood-burning pen. This is a great opportunity to see if this would be a great hobby for you, We have Gourds, paint and the tools needed to get you started. Interested? please call us and let us know. 524-4533
