Alzheimer’s & Dementia Caregiver Support Group meets in the Senior Center Library from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M Often times, we hear caregivers say they are looking for support from people who "really understand because they've been there, too." An Alzheimer's/Dementia Caregiver Support Group offers just that – a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia to meet and develop a mutual support system. It's a place to: Exchange practical information on caregiving problems and possible solutions; Talk through challenges and ways of coping; Share feelings, needs and concerns; Learn about resources available in your community; Our support group is facilitated by a trained individual. The Alzheimer’s Association has an excellent book on Dementia & Alzheimer’s, I believe it’s $25 if your interested you can contact Norma Featherston at 805-484-6028

Monday, November 5th. this is part 1. Part 2 will be on Thursday Nov. 8th. the AARP Drivers Safety Class will be for Veterans Only. The AARP Driver Safety Classroom course is FREE! All Veterans are eligible regardless of age. This includes individuals who serve or have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard/Reserves, or Coast Guard. In addition, veterans’ spouses, domestic partners, dependents, children, and widows and widowers, regardless of age may participate. The other benefit for taking the course is getting a discount on your auto insurance (with participating insurances). Veterans living in Fillmore/Piru Area, call the Fillmore Senior Center at 524-4533 to get your coupon and sigh up. This is a 2 day, 4 hour each class in order to get your completion certificate.
