Shirley Elizabeth Brown Moore, 94, born July 21, 1916, in Saskatchewan, Canada, widow of George W. Moore II, passed away Dec. 22, 2010, at home, in Fillmore. She had a busy life as an orange rancher’s wife, mother of four and, for 31 years, the librarian at Santa Paula High School. Her students were her second family. All were treated with dignity and love.
Shirley encouraged and gave direction to many children, helping them to understand and utilize their gifts. She was proudest of the professions and contributions of her 24 blood descendants.
She is survived by her sons, George W. Moore III, Reagan W. Moore, PhD, and Dwight V. Moore, and daughter, Kathleen Moore Bishop, MD, 11 grandchildren, and 9 greatgrandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 740 E. Main, Santa Paula, on Saturday,
July 23 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please read a book and support your local library.
