Shirley Maxine Butler-Edison (July 1943 – December 2024)

Our Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend. Shirley Maxine Butler-Edison, 81, passed away on December 4,2024, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia with her loving Husband Edward Edison by her side.
Shirley was born on July 8,1943, in Fillmore, California to Aubrey & Lavada Butler, brothers Ralph & Dennis. They moved to Oklahoma in February 1951 to help with the family farm. After a few years they moved back to Fillmore, California in 1958. She attended Fillmore High School and met the love of her life. She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1961, On May 31,1963, she married her High School Sweetheart Edward Eugene Edison, and their journey together began. On August 9,1969 she gave birth to her only son John Edward Edison. Shirley was a loving mother and liked to travel, go hunting & fishing and spend time with her family. She worked for General Telephone from 1964-1968, then she went to work for the City of Ventura as a Water & Billing Supervisor from 1973 -2003. She retired from the City of Ventura after 30 yrs of service. In 1997 Edward & Shirley opened a sporting goods store in Fillmore “Edison’s Up In Arms” They made many good friends over the 20 yrs they owned it. In 2017 they closed “Edison’s Up In Arms” and retired. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Edward Eugine Edison, (Son) John Edward Edison (Becky) of Cordell, OK. Grandchildren: Johnathon Edison (Clare) of Colorado, Clayton Edison, Cheyann Edison, Dylan Edison of Cordell, OK. Tyler Edison (Jinny) of Duncan, OK., Kayli Doyon (Ryan) of Idaho. Brothers: Ralph Butler (Anita) of Camarillo. CA., Dennis Butler (Linda) of Lone Grove, OK. And seven Great Grand Children.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Aubrey & Lavada Butler.
The family would like to extend a special” Thank you” to those who helped care for Shirley.
As per Shirley’s wishes no formal service will take place.
