SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif—California United showcased their prowess at the 2024 CUFA Boys soccer tournament, claiming titles in both 2014 and 2016 aged group. The event, which drew teams from across the region to South Lake Tahoe, saw California United young squads outperform their competitors through a series of commanding matches against all obstacles the boys showed their resilient and team effort.

In the 2014 Boys Category, California United began their campaign with a desire 4-1 victory over Fiera Futbol FC, followed by a draw against San Jose Rush 1-1 and a convincing 6-1 win against Chipas Academy. The championship game California United once again met their match against San Jose Rush which was a nail-biter ending in a 4-3 Victory in over time.
The 2016 boys team displayed even more dominance beginning with a 5-1 win over Bay Area Surf, a staggering 12-0 victory against Fiera Futbol Club, and an 11-1 defeat of Great Basin Youth Soccer League. Their Championship match against Reedley-Kings Canyon Youth Soccer Aguilas FC ended in a resounding 9-2 victory.

California United FC’s Offense shined as key players Andres Martinez (2016) scored two goals, Gera Alvarado (2016) scored three, and standout performance from Rex Masterson, who scored seventeen goals throughout the tournament. Neymar Alcaraz (2016) was particularly notable, scoring eight goals in total, while JJ Garcia (2016) added five, Roman Garibay (2016) two. (2014) Moises Pastrana scoring four goals, David Prado scoring two. Contributions also came from Noah Jimenez (one goal), Andre Mendez (two goals), Jacob Santa Rosa (two goals), and Romeo Ochoa (three goals). Assisting were Romeo Ochoa, Andre Mendez, Jacob Santa Rosa, and David Gonzalez. With the help of our defensive players Caesar Aguayo, Frank Murillo, David Gonzalez and Luis Ortiz, the team was able to showcase the depth of talent on both teams. Goalkeeper’s Michael Ortiz (2014), Elijah Vargas (2014), Kevin Ponce (2016), all had multiple shutouts throughout the tournament.

Coached by Miguel Martinez, Francisco Aguayo (2014), Javier Alcaraz (2016) and Josue Garcia (2016) both teams demonstrated a high level of skill and teamwork. “Our Coaching staff is incredibly proud of all our players. They’ve worked hard all season, and it shows in their performance and the way they handle themselves on the field “stated Coach Miguel after the games.

This year’s CUFA tournament not only highlighted the skillful play but also the promising talent within California United’s ranks, suggesting a bright future for these young athletes as they continue to develop their abilities and competitive spirit in youth soccer. #BuildingChampions
